The 2011 Oscars start on the red carpet (everyone knows that!) and there was no shortage of celebrity couples making their way to the Kodak Theater.
Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and his wife Elizabeth Hammer looked lovely together as did Mark Ruffalo (The Kids are Alright) and his wife, Sunrise.
Russell Brand's date was his mother, as his wife Katy Perry is currently on tour. This caused heads to turn because the two have been rumored to be having marital problems. The trend stuck because Jeremy Renner (The Town) brought his mother too! Not to be left out, Justin Timberlake (The Social Network) had his mother on his arm! Another head turner because he didn't bring his on again / off again girlfriend, Jessica Biel. The two haven't made many (if any) public appearances together, and tonight didn't change that trend.
Amy Adams (The Fighter) nuzzled with her husband, Darren Legallo. Her costar (and on-screen kiss partner) Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter) walked the carpet with his wife, Rhea Durham on his arm. Another Fighter costar Christian Bale was joined by his wife, Sandra Sibi Blazic.
Nicole Kidman and her hubby Keith Urban showed up together (can anyone figure out Nicole's dress?). Matthew McConaughey and his lady Camilla Alves looked dashing as did Penelope Cruz (did you see her post-baby body?) and Javier Bardem (Biutiful).
